In September 2024, I played Ernie, the stage doorman, in Sock & Buskin’s production of Rehearsal for Murder, by D.D. Brooke. The show was directed by Stefanie Austin.
In Rehearsal for Murder, a playwright named Alex Dennison sets out to find the truth about who murdered Monica Welles, his fiancee and leading lady, one year ago. Suspecting everyone might have had a motive, he interrogates the members of the production they were working on at the time, diving deeper into apparent paranoia before finally unmasking the killer.
Ernie is a minor supporting role. He’s sardonic, alcoholic, and reluctant to leave the theatre when Dennison asks him to. While a small role, I built some humor into the performance.
