In October 2024, I read Professor Richard Pierson, an astronomer and survivor of the Martian attacks in Sock & Buskin’s production of The War of the Worlds: The 1938 Radio Script, directed by Henry Morello. This is the script from the famous Orson Welles production that legendarily started a panic amongst listeners who thought the invasion was real–though this panic is largely a myth.

As a live radio play, we performed as radio performers, meaning that different characters needed different voices, and when we were not directly speaking into one of the microphones, we acted as off-duty radio actors. The story is primarily told through voice acting and dialogue, but audiences got to see us performing the story vocally.
