In Apr.-May 2026, I played Erronius is S&B’s first ever musical, Stephen Sondheim’s A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. This was a big experiment for S&B, both in terms of the licensing costs for a musical and the production challenges, but we put on a great show. One of my neighbors said it was the best performance of Forum of the several versions she’s seen, and a regular community theatre performer in the area said it was the best musical he’d seen in the Centre County area. S&B’s production was also written up in The Centre County Gazette.

Forum is a comic musical inspired by four plays by Plautus, combining various storylines and utilizing traditional Roman comic stock figures, but with a modern twist. Pseudolus–the cunning slave who wants his freedom–needs to unite the two young lovers Hero and Philia, but he’s the son of a Senator and she’s a concubine slave who has been sold to the braggart soldier Miles Gloriousus. Through a series of tricks and desperate gambits, Pseudolus manipulates everyone around him to bring about a happy ending.

Erronius, the character I played, is an old man who has spent twenty years abroad searching for his children, stolen in infancy by pirates. The part has relatively little stage time and no solo songs (which was my big concern because I don’t have experience as a vocalist), but I made a big impact through the comic timing and playful spin I put on the character.
